I'm Sylvia Kay and I've created this blog to publicize my books and art.  I"ve written and illustrated two books: "FOOTSTEPS IN THE SANDS OF TIME  My Journey of Remembering, Self-Healing and Learning Through 4 Lifetimes" and "AN INNER JOURNEY...  Footsteps of Poetry and Art:".  Although I think both of my books are ready to go to the printer, until there is a concrete path, with "right" steps to take, in this direction, I assume I either have more work to do (on me or on my books) or it just isn't the "right" time, so I wait, working on what I can for now and learn patience and trust. Although I've left a little information about my work in what follows, please visit my web-site at: https://www.sylviakay.ca/ for more information and to explore my work in more detail.

"FOOTSTEPS...", chronicles almost twenty-years of a meditative quest, spent following LIFE's lead, through "open doors" and what felt "right" inside -- no matter where these might take me or how they felt otherwise. I've never known when I walked through a "door" what I would find or what would happen.  I walked through the most recent one, more than six years before writing "FOOTSTEPS...".  I had no idea when I walked through it that I was about to uncover a VERY painful past-life lived somewhere where French was spoken... maybe in France.  In any case, what confronted me as I passed through this "open door" has been similar enough in flavor to where I lived before to allow the memories to surface and I've been working through them piece by piece, by myself alone, ever since.  It's been VERY good for me and I've really needed to both feel and understand what was here inside, because it was getting in the way and clouding my life here/now, but it's been VERY hard to say the least!!!  For many years, I lived almost completely isolated and alone, submerged in deja vu; feeling deeply and working my way slowly through the pieces of this memory one by one as they surfaced.  I feel SO much better inside for having done this work and doing it has taught me to really like and enjoy my own company!  In the process, I've also built a good strong team inside -- so I now have my best friends always accessible within me.  Although much of this process has been VERY hard and difficult, I've understood that many of LIFE's lessons involve facing pain and difficulty in the quest for "good and beautiful", because wrong turns, misunderstandings and confusion are best clarified in this way.  In "FOOTSTEPS...", I share not only the steps I took to navigate through all 4 lifetimes of experiences, what I discovered inside, how I did this work by myself alone, and some of the art I created, to help me explore and understand myself, but also, more importantly the unique self-discovery/self-exploration path I followed and the tools and methods I've employed to do this work by myself alone..

In addition to "FOOTSTEPS..." I've also written a second book "AN INNER JOURNEY... Footsteps of Poetry and Art".  This book of 30 poems, each beautifully accompanied by its own illustrative art, encapsulates the essence of the journey documented in detail in "FOOTSTEPS...".  The art I've chosen, repeats some of the art from my web-site, but none of it is included in "FOOTSTEPS...", so it is predominantly new.  I feel the art I've made available on my web-site is sufficient to give its flavor and surprises can be wonderful catalysts for inner growth!

I find the internet works really well to give an idea about something, but it moves too quickly for a dialogue to develop. Books seem to work better for sitting with, contemplating and meditating on images and ideas.    I've been very selective about the work I've chosen to share on the internet, because most of my art and writing feel like they need time -- time to be sat with, considered, mulled over, contemplated and meditated on; savored little by little, over an extended time to reveal their full flavor.  I feel books are better suited to this process than the internet, where everything seems to be about speed and quantity...
